ALEKS textbook - Faculty Instructions

Add ALEKS to your Textbook module if it’s not already there.

  1. Go to “Textbook”.
  2. Click on “Existing Activities”, then “External Learning Tools”
  3. Click “ALEKS 1.3”.  The “ALEKS 1.3” item will be added to your list module as an External Learning Tool

Sync your ALEKS class with your Brightspace course page.

  1. Click the “ALEKS 1.3” External Learning Tool in your “Textbook” module.
  2. Assuming you already created your ALEKS course separately, choose “An Existing ALEKS Class at this Institution”, and go to step A3. If you have not yet created your course, then choose “A Copy of an Existing Class”, then go to step B3.

  • A3. Under “Instructor”, select “My Classes”, and under “Class”, select the existing class you wish to pair.
  • A4.  The next page acknowledges that the course is paired with your LMS.  Click Continue to enter your ALEKS course page to manage your course.
  • B3. You’ll be given the option to copy either by selecting a specific course, or by Class Code.  If you have the 10-character Class Code, enter it into the space provided in the right window , click “Continue”, and go to step B5. Otherwise, choose “Copy A Class from this school” and proceed to step B4.
  • B4.  Under “Instructor”, select your name (or the name of the Instructor whose class you wish to copy), and under “Class”, select the existing class you wish to copy.  Then click “Continue”.
  • B5. Enter the appropriate Class information on the page, such as the start and end dates, section (if necessary), and select the items you wish to copy to your new course.  Then click “Copy Class”.

  • B6. The next page acknowledges that the course is paired with your LMS.  Click Continue to enter your ALEKS course page to manage your course.
