What is the most efficient way to get my new section(s) setup?

Your time is valuable. Whether you have one course to set up or multiple, it is important that you know the most efficient way to get things up and running!

Why is this the best order? Tools are unique but linked… and… Deployed or linked items cannot be deleted from Grades.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Download the most up-to-date Instructor Checklist found in Start Here.
  2. Cleanup Table of Contents (TOC)
    • DELETE all items and folders that you do not need for this quarter (ie. ONL items if this is an NFC section).
    • Follow Instructor Checklist.
    • Restructure/Reorder if desired.
    • Add new syllabus and updated docs using “Change File.”
    • Etc.
  3. Cleanup Assessment buckets
    • DELETE all Assignments, DBs, and Quizzes that will not be used this quarter (Restore is available in some tools)
    • Follow Instructor Checklist.
    • Set Availability, Due Dates, and ensure each is connected to the Grades tool.
    • Reorder to be shown in correct order throughout the quarter.
  4. Cleanup Grades
    • DELETE all Grade columns that will not be used this quarter to ensure that students only see columns for section-related items.
    • Follow Instructor Checklist
    • Reorder by Due Date to help students organize time and track their own progress.
