How do I create a Copyleaks Assignment?

According to their site, Copyleaks is “AI-based text analysis to help create and protect original content.” Copyleaks is more than your regular plagiarism software as it detects text similarity, paraphrased content, source code plagiarism, AI-generated content, and more!  For more information, browse the Copyleaks Help Center articles.

Adding a Copyleaks Assignment

Since CopyLeaks is a 3rd party external learning tool, you will set up Copyleaks assignments within the Table of Contents as you do for other integrations of this sort (eg. ALEKS, Cengage, and Connect activities).

  1. Watch this quick video on How to: Add and Edit a Copyleaks Assignment (Runtime 2:29).
  2. RECOMMENDED LOCATION: From the appropriate Module / Assignment folder
  3. Go to Existing Activities
  4. Choose Copyleaks Assignment
  5. Set Up the Copyleaks Assignment by adding the assignment description/instructions, due date, grading, and attempts.
    • Scan settings will be set to the PTC default. If you desire to change them, be sure to Save Settings.
  6. Submit the Copyleaks Assignment to complete the setup process.
  7. Students will upload their documents to the Copyleaks Assignment that is deployed within the Content area(s).

Connect and Sync Copyleaks Assignment to Brightspace Grades Tool

  1. Navigate back to each new Copyleaks Assignment from its location in the course's Table of Contents
  2. Select the Copyleaks Assignment title so that it opens the embedded submissions page
    • This needs to be completed once for EACH Copyleaks Assignment.
  3. Navigate to Grades to verify that a column has been created at the end of your list
  4. Reorder new Copyleaks Assignment into Due Date or Category order

Viewing Reports and Grading

  1. Watch a quick video on How To: View a Copyleaks Report and Grade (Runtime: 4:05).
  2. After a student submits, it will automatically scan and present and AI detector score and Plagiarism score.
  3. Click on the assignment to access the submission page. 
  4. Select View report icon to see the Similarity Report. 
  5. Add points to the Grade column directly above the row with the student submission report
