AutoDesk Student and Educators Creating an account and installing software

Overview of what you will need to do:

  1. If you don't already have one, create" an Autodesk account.
  2. Confirm your eligibility, which involves validating your role as a student or educator with a qualified educational institution.
  3. Download and install your software and sign into it with your AutoDesk account


If you don't already have one, create an account if you are a student or faculty member:

  1. Go to the “Get Products” page on the Autodesk Education Community. Click here for Products Page
  2. Click on "Get Started"
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to carefully enter basic information about your school and yourself. Make absolute sure your school email address is typed correctly. When prompted, choose whether you are a Student or Educator and select to use the software on your personal device.
  4. Once your account information is submitted, you'll receive an email to verify your address. Click the email to activate your account.

If you don't receive the account confirmation email:

  1. Wait at least 10-20 minutes
  2. Check your spam and junk email folders
  3. If you are faculty, you can make sure the email isn't being blocked by PTC's spam solution.  Click here and follow the directions.
  4. If you still haven't received the email, try to sign in again
  5. Resend the activation email when prompted
  6. If this still doesn't work, you may have made a typo when entering your email address. Try creating your account again, and confirm your email address entry is correct.


Confirm eligibility for students and faculty/educator:

Important: You will not be able to access software under the Education plan until your eligibility is confirmed. Be sure to start the process of confirming your eligibility early enough to make sure you have access when class starts.

  1. Visit the “Get Products” page. Click here for Products Page
  2. Click Sign in and enter your account credentials
  3. Choose your school from the drop down list
  4. Double check all information
  5. Click Verify

Submit additional documentation:

You may be asked to submit additional documentation for proof of eligibility. This documentation must include:

  • Full name (Must match the name as shown in your school registration)
  • Full name of the education institution
  • A date within the current school term

Here are some examples of appropriate documentation, assuming they include the information above:

  • Official letter from the educational institution
  • Registration receipt
  • Tuition receipt
  • Student or Employee ID (Can take a photo or scan and email from fax machine to yourself and upload)
  • Transcript
  • Faculty listing on school website

Once your eligibility is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email welcoming you to the Education Community. This email includes links to the Get Products page, support resources, and the Education Community page.



Faculty Installing AutoDesk Software:

  1. At the bottom left on your school provided laptop, look for the magnifying glass icon and search field.  Click in the field and search for company portal, then open it.
  2. Down the left column, select "Apps".
  3. Find and install the software needed.
  4. Sign into the software with your AutoDesk account that you created above.

Students Installing AutoDesk Software:

  1. Sign into your AutoDesk account, Click here.
  2. Click Products and Services in the navigation bar.
  3. Locate your product and click Download Now or View Downloads.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the software.
  5. After installing the software, sign into the software with the same AutoDesk account you created above.


Renew access for students and educators:

Important: Your access to the Education plan WILL EXPIRE at the end of one-year. You can renew your access annually as long as your are eligible.

Thirty days before the expiration of your one-year Education plan access, you'll be sent a reminder email. You can also find your expiration date in the personalized banner notification when you sign in to your AutoDesk account on the AutoDesk Education Community website.

If you do not renew your access, your free access will end when your Education plan expires. If you have files stored in Drive, you can continue to access them, but you will not be able to edit them or upload new files.

Note: Documents stored in AutoDesk cloud service remain available for 30 days after your Education plan access expires. Be sure to retrieve any files stored in AutoDesk cloud service before the end of this period.

To renew access:

  1. Go to the Get Products page, sign in to your account.
  2. Click Renew Now in the personalized banner notification.

To renew a subscription:

After you complete the following steps, a new one-year subscription will be assigned to your account.

  1. Go to the Get Products page.
  2. Click Get Started and sign in.
  3. Scroll down to the card for your product.
  4. Click Get Product.
  5. Click Install/Download

Note: Even if your product is already installed, you need to click install/Download to generate a new subscription. (You can cancel the download if you don't need it.)



Additional software - Revit Content:

  1. Click here to go to the website for Revit Content
  2. At the bottom left, choose your version of Revit and locate the Content link to download and install it
